Silk Art Embroidery : A Women's History of Ornament & Empowerment by Donna Cardwel
Donna Cardwell's interest in antique linens began many years ago with vintage tablecloths from the 1930's through the 1960's. She is fascinated with Victorian culture, particularly the linens used on their fancy tables in the beautiful ornate Victorian homes. Her "first love" is nineteenth century "turkey red" tablecloths and other types of large table covers ~ chenille, "double-cloth," velvet, fine damask linen, homespun, lace, and more. Silk Art Embroidery is a special love because of the history and beauty of the art form. Donna is currently working on her second book, 100 Years of Table Linens, about all types of table linens from 1800 to 1900. She lives in Northeast Ohio where she grew up. She enjoys antiquing, is an avid horsewoman, amateur photographer, and administrative professional.
